WEEKLY SCHEDULE JuL 7 - Jul 12 2008

FRIDAY 07/05/2008 SCHEDULE

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Welcome to the 2008 Season!!

We had another great turn out for the concession stand sign up’s this year! Over 60 of our local youth signed up the work in concessions this year. It is amazing to see so much interest in Tealtown Ballpark concessions.

As you may know we are changing things a bit this year and I’m looking forward to talking to all of you about it. Here is a brief summary of the multiple levels of employment this year:

Full time - To be a full time employee means you are able to work Monday thru Friday 5:00pm to close. This position would likely be filled by someone who is not involved in sports.  We would like to have 5 to 10 people for the full time position.

Shift Leaders - Select individuals from the full time staff will be trained to be shift leaders and make $1.00 more per hour.

Part time -  To be a part time employee means you are only able to work select hours because of other commitments. Part time people will be used to fill in as need thru out the season. We will hire as many part people as possible. Much like the years past, the people who are available to work the most will get the most hours.

We will have two information sessions on Sunday March 13th that will also include a bit of training.

Session 1 – 1:00pm -2:00pm Part time concession candidates with a parent

We will discuss the following topics: hours available, how to obtain hours, pay scales, safety issues, job related duties, POS system, fundraisers, and training. $5.00 will be collected for a staff shirt.

Session 2 – 2:00pm 3:00pm Full Time concession candidates with a parent.

We will discuss the following topics: hours available, employee assessment, pay scales, safety issues, shift leaders \ job related duties, POS system, fundraisers, and Advanced training.$5.00 will be collected for a staff shirt.

Note: You must bring a parent if you are under the age of 16. A waver must be signed at this meeting to be considered for employment. If you miss this meeting we will not be able to hire you this season.

FAQ’s

Q: Can I take the waver home and have it signed and bring it back?

A: No, a parent must attend to hear all of the information given first hand.

Q: My son\daughter worked in the past and did a good job, are they guaranteed the highest pay and the most hours?

A: No, this year we have a system for hiring, training, and assessing employable skills.

Q: Are these positions (full time, part time) to be considered jobs or recreation?

A: Yes, Tealtown BP is a non-profit organization, anytime we spend money for a service we expect to get as much effort as possible. In the past some concession employees and parents were under the impression that the concession stand positions were made available for the youth of our area just to give them something to do and put a little money in their pockets. Hopefully our information sessions this year will clear up some issues we have had in the past.

Q: How many employees will Tealtown hire?

A: In the past we tried very hard to employ everyone who signed up. We have not had a lot of success across the board with this method.  This year we will be hiring based on availability and skills. We may staff around 30 employees and 20 to 30 on reserve call list.

Q: Can I take a day off or go on vacation if I work Full time?

A: Yes, we will need to know a week in advance if you plan to take a day off or if you’re planning a vacation. That way we have time to schedule a part time person to cover the shift.

Q: How much can I make per hour?

A: Tealtown pays $5.00 hr. for regular duties and $6.00 hr. for shift leaders.

Q: What kind of work is involved?

A: The concession stand workers may be asked to do any of the following: work the register, cook food, stock items, clean, sweep, mop, collect trash from around the park.

Q: Can I drive the golf carts?

A: Only those employee’s who are 18yrs old or older with insurance may drive a golf cart or gator at the park.

Q: Do I have to wear a uniform?

A:  Yes, close toed shoes, pants or shorts (no skirts) and a Tealtown Staff shirt. The Tealtown shirt will be ordered at the time of employment and the cost is $5.00.

Q: How old do you have to be?

A: You must be at least 14 yrs. old and have a signed wavier from a parent to work at Tealtown Ballpark.
