As more and more accounts are
being recorded around the country of parents assaulting umpires,
coaches and other parents, the Tealtown Board of Directors
voted to institute requirements on parents for their children to
participate in the league. This was done to protect against
violence occurring within the league, but more importantly, to
insure that our children see their participation for what it is,
fun.
It is a requirement of
participation of each player participant in the Tealtown Little
League that the following items be adhered to by their parents or
guardians. Failure to fulfill these requirements may result in the
player being removed from the team and their participation ceased.
1.
No coaching is
allowed from the stands. A parents’ role is to provide
encouragement from the sidelines, not instruction. Umpires are to
announce to the public this rule when they witness any occurrence.
2.
Parents or
guardians are to familiarize themselves with the Little League
rules. We want to insure that each participating adult is familiar
with the Little League playing rule(s).
3.
The goal for
each participant within the Tealtown Little League is learn the game
and maintain the desire to play the game next year. Placing winning
above all else is not compatible with the structure of the league
and the organization.
4.
In addition to
your player fees, the league / each team may require your son or
daughter to raise money for the teams use.
